Seldovia offers excellent sport fishing. Private fishing charters are available for catching halibut, king salmon, silver salmon, and ling cod in open ocean waters. Guided inland excursions provide fly or cast fishing opportunities for King Salmon and rainbow trout.
You can enjoy your favorite fishing experience. Head for open waters aboard a modern catamaran or join a guide for backwater fishing in peaceful mountain streams. The extraordinary Alaska Salmon fishing is due to massive runs of King, Silver and Sockeye salmon that migrate through the area as they head towards their spawning grounds in the world famous Kenai Peninsula river systems. Ling cod and halibut fishing is impressive, too, for the number and size of the catch. Commercial charters typically release all halibut less than 32″ in length.
Many visitors enjoy the guided fly-out fishing adventures that are just 10 to 30 minutes away. For example, you can charter a flight to Windy Bay and Rocky River where an experienced guide will greet you at the private airstrip and take you to an exclusive wilderness area for a memorable day of fishing. The silver salmon can be plentiful at Windy Bay and Rocky River, and the unspoiled beauty of the area and the peaceful solitude are priceless.
During the end of July and continuing through the late part of September, park visitors to Lake Clark National Park can fly or cast fish for Dolly Varden trout. From August through September, anglers can fish in the park for Pink Salmon and there is a strong run of world-class salmon.
