HALIBUT – Seldovia is a popular destination for Alaska halibut fishing. Indeed, the waters surrounding the Kenai Peninsula are home to some of the best halibut fishing in the world. Prized for their fighting sport and flavor, halibut are abundant and can be monster-sized. Giant Pacific Halibut can weigh 300 pounds or more. A good fishing adventure can bring in a satisfying number of Halibut with fish typically weighing in the 30- to 80-pound range. The Halibut fishing season starts in May and lasts through September.
KING SALMON – The tides from Cook Inlet bring in a daily bounty of some of the largest king salmon found anywhere in the world. The peak season is from May 15 to July 31.
RAZOR BACK CLAMS – Digging for Razor Back Clams is a fun family activity on the sandy beaches near Seldovia. The clamming season is from April to September and the tastiest table-quality clams are best in early summer, before the July to August spawning season. Digging is most productive during minus tides. Equipment for digging includes a small shovel or a clam tube, which is a 4- to 6-inch-diameter tube with a handle, pail, and rubber boots (optional). The sport is enjoyable and the clams are delectable.
